    • This book tugged on my heartstrings big-time. Dawn’s dynamic and authentic characters and deep storyline caused me to feel every emotion, sometimes in rapid succession. I laughed, I cried, I got more than a little angry—a few times. Though this novel was written for young adults, the story will draw all readers in. And I believe, in reading about Avery, a teenager living in chaos in a town filled with judgment and, seemingly, perfect families, readers can catch a glimpse into what life may b [...]

    • This is what I call a Life Lesson book. You can't help but to cheer Avery on. I loved the lessons and the author did a great job of capturing my attention from the very first chapter. This a book that every teenager would love to read and one that I would be honored to share with them. This is a 4 star book. I recommend it. Don't you all LOVE this cover. The Mary Reader received this book from the author for review. A favorable review was not required and all views expressed are our own.

    • Fabulous Debut from Dawn Ford!Knee-high Lies is a gritty and realistic page-turner about one teen’s bravery and perseverance when life keeps knocking her down. Despite all the problems thrown Avery’s way, she never gives up. Now she’s not perfect by a long shot, but that’s what makes her so relatable. And those *knee-high lies* she tells to protect herself end up hurting her, as they always do. We can all learn a lot from Avery’s experience.I can’t wait to read more from Dawn!

    • Amazing for a debut novel! Beautifully written and draws you in from the beginning. You will hurt and cheer for Avery every step of the way. The depth of character is fantastic! Dawn takes you deep into a world many of us have never experienced nor know how to respond to. In doing so, she gives us hope and a means to respond and reach out to others. Can't wait to see what she writes next.

    • This young adult novel was at times endearing, heartbreaking, and overall charming. There was plenty of angst, romance, mean girls, and life problems to go around, but the characters felt so real I was almost afraid I was back in high school again:) That said, I would definitely recommend this book to any teen girl or young woman. It doesn't sweep tough issues under the carpet as though they don't exist, but it doesn't glorify them either. The author writes about underage drinking, dating, and b [...]

    • avery is a small town high school senior with a big secrether parents are big time alcoholics and she is really on her own. when her mother disappears and it looks like she ran off with the rich banker it gets a whole lot worse. least of the worries is that the banker's daughter is Avery's enemy.I really wanted to like this book more than I did. avery has such a difficult life and you just want to cheer her on's where my issues are. its a small townbut yet most people don't know how decrepit her [...]

    • Plot:While a couple of parts were predictable, I still enjoyed the plot. I could somewhat relate to Avery's situation with her parents and liked how she overcame it and found other people she could count on. It felt inspiring and down-to-earth. This book deals with realistic situations such as alcoholic parents, abuse, sexual harassment, small town gossip, and bullying.Setting:This is set in a small farm town, something I could really relate to. Everything felt realistic and like I was right the [...]
